Adjustments and Saddle tank
An earlier picture showing the regulator in the boiler. I decided not to drill a hole in the boiler wrapper for the regulator fixing screw as per drawing. Instead I built up the top of the regulator casting so that it touched the bottom of the steam manifold and then bolted it through the top of the manifold. Another view of the regulator.
Chain drilling the saddle tank ends. After a couple of runs, I found that the pins which run through the expansion link die blocks were working loose and would occasionally jam. I machined up a new set of pins with a flange at one end and a thread fo a nut at the other which fixed the problem. Also, the drain cock lever in the cab is difficult to reach, so I made up a new one which protrudes back into the cab.
